HISTORY
The Illinois Valley Herb Guild was founded in 1991. The first meeting was held September 17, 1991 at the American Legion in Granville, Illinois. Founding members Barbara Bruch and Marge Stansell were active members of the Peoria Herb Guild, but although found the commute tiring.
After much consideration, the two decided to form the Illinois Valley Herb Guild. The first meeting on "Homemade Vinegars" advertised in the local paper met with great success and added 45 members (and growing to over 50 charter members the first year). Twenty-six years later the Illinois Valley Herb Guild carries on that tradition and members come from all points of the LaSalle, Marshall, Putnam and Bureau County areas. The focus of IVHG has been on Community Education and Service. So we pay an homage to the founders and charter members for their contributions.
With the introduction of our new website IVHG.ORG in 2015 and our newly revised newsletter for members "The Thymes", we hope our contribution secures awareness of IVHG for decades to come.
